"Elizalde was considered the caretaker and peacemaker of the forest and as such had many connections with all the worlds – forest, faery and human. He visited each world often and was asked advice, asked to mend difficult situations, asked for his wisdom in times of need. He traveled far and wide in Sitka Forest visiting the animals, plants, faeries and devas that lived there, befriending each one. His friends in the human world were numbered to a few - among them was Princess Penelope. She visited Elizalde often to learn of the forest and her beings and had even been invited to the land of the faeries once before."
from Ch VII
"After midnight Elizalde finally reached Luna. As he came to the base of Mt Tavar he noticed the tiers of the mountain were like a wedding cake. Each tier separated by mist, each tier a doorway to a different world. As Mt Tavar got higher the stars got brighter and more numerous, until there was almost more star than sky. Luna’s world was most definitely a different world than the forest Elizalde had come from. Somewhat like the faeries land, it felt more ancient and even more magical than the forest floor below. Luna felt his coming and greeted him as he crossed the last doorway of mist to the point of Mt Tavar. She led him through a labyrinth of trees and stones to reach her sacred nest. It was damp and mossy there, cool and crisp. The moon shined down on the stones illuminating their ancient markings."

from Ch I
"The councilors hut was blanketed with the white purity of snow. It had been snowing for many weeks now, the snow was thick on the trees and the Earths soil. The sky was clear and cold, with more stars than sky. Most of the Faeries were tucked away in their cottages, dens and tree houses but the Faery Council had to meet this night. Serene, in her deep winter of reading, had discovered something very important that she needed to share."
from Ch VI
"Illume followed as it meandered and trickled into the lush forest. As Illume followed she noticed a little baby bird on the root of a tree. She went to him quietly and kneeled down. It had such a tiny little head and fluffy wings. She was fresh from her mamas egg. Illume sat there many minutes mesmerized by this sweet little creature. Then she heard “follow me, follow me.” Illume looked up to where the water had been, she could see that it had run quite a distance ahead into the thick, damp forest. She fluttered her wings and flew to catch up, blowing a kiss to the baby bird as she left it’s side. She came to the head of the water and walked along following it’s movement. She wondered where this little stream of water was taking her?"
